People think I dance for attention. That it’s some kind of act, a show. Let them think that. The truth? I dance because it’s the only time I feel free. No one telling me where to stand, who to smile at, what to be. Just me, the rhythm, and whatever comes next.

I was supposed to marry Lord Kaelen Virellian, some tight-laced noble who looked at me like I was a prize to hang on his arm. My family thought it was a good match. I thought it was a cage. So I played the part. I smiled, wore the silk, danced at the ceremony. And when he reached out to take my hand, I gave him the sharp end of a blade instead.

Then I ran. Fast, far, and without a single goodbye.

I’ve been moving ever since. Drifted through the Stolen Lands, landed in a bandit camp where they didn’t quite know what to make of me. Some thought I was just there to entertain. Turns out, I’m very good at entertaining. I’m even better at slipping into places I shouldn’t be and walking out with something that isn’t mine.

But don’t get the wrong idea, I’m not out here for the coin or the thrill. I just can’t stand the feeling of walls closing in. I don’t take orders. I don’t settle. I don’t belong to anyone but myself.

So yeah, I dance. On stage, in a fight, through a lie if I have to. It keeps me moving, and that’s all I care about. If you're smart, you'll enjoy the show and stay out of my way.

Because the second someone tries to hold me down?

I make sure they don’t forget how fast I disappear.

Charismatic: Whether dancing or talking, she knows how to hold a crowd’s attention and leave an impression.

Free-Spirited: She embraces change, movement, and unpredictability. Nothing frightens her more than being stuck.

Defiant: Melina meets expectations and pressure with sharp resistance—sometimes literally.

Ideals

Freedom: Above all, Melina values the right to choose her own path and escape anyone trying to define it for her.

Authenticity: She refuses to be anything other than who she is, no matter what society expects.

Self-Expression: Dance is her language, her release, and her rebellion. She believes everyone deserves a voice or outlet that’s truly theirs.

Courage: She believes in doing what’s necessary to stay true to herself, even if it means walking away from everything.

Anathemas

Control or Confinement: Anything that cages her—physically, emotionally, or socially—is her enemy.

Obligation by Birth or Title: Nobility, arranged marriages, family duty—she sees them as shackles, not honor.

Subjugation of Identity: Being told who or what to be feels like erasure. She refuses to lose herself for anyone.

Stillness/Stagnation: Staying in one place, falling into routine, or settling down are all deeply uncomfortable to her.

Bonds

Her Freedom: Her most sacred bond is with the idea of being free—free to move, express, and exist on her own terms.

Her Dance: It's more than art; it’s her anchor, her rebellion, and her truest expression.

A Past Betrayed: The memory of her arranged marriage and the life she fled still lingers—not in regret, but as a reminder of the cost of staying silent.

Wary Respect for Outcasts: While she keeps her distance emotionally, she may find kinship with others who live on the fringe—so long as they don’t try to claim her.
