Niko stumbled down the gang plank and waved to the crew, "Farewell my friends, I wish you fair seas and on the return journey and many loose women in port, ...or men, if that's what you're into..." He laughed loudly, 'causing a guard to glare at him. Niko flashed a lop-sided grin and waved his hand at the guard, "Apologies...apologies, but I am quite drunk." Niko held up the half empty bottle of rum to emphasize his point. The guard's eyes narrowed and he shifted to look at this drunken idiot.
Niko wore what would have probably been considered nice dark colored clothing, now clearly travel worn. The darkly dressed man had accented his gear with various leather belts, bits of jewelry, an elegant and well cared for rapier and parrying dagger hung from the belt at Niko's waist. A heavy canvas travel back hung from a leather strap on Niko's shoulder. This man could be trouble drunk and armed as he was. The guard took another step towards the drunkard, Niko's eyes seemed to clear and he took one step back. "Now my friend, no trouble here, just a humble world-famous sell sword looking for work..."
The guard's eyes narrowed, "Eh, world-famous, 'ey?" He shifted , "Wot's yer name?"
Niko grinned and bowed with a flourish, "Why I'm the famed mercenary captain Nikolas DeCosta, at your service! The Breaker of The Seige of Bethel, Leader of The Breach at Parisium, The Defender of Yorksburg!"
The guard raised his eyebrows, "Never 'eard of yeh....or any o' tose places."
Niko's expression faltered, "Ah...well...just a matter of time I suppose...man of culture like yourself."
The guard growled, "You makin' fun uh me?"
Niko raised a hand trying to placate the man, "No no, I wouldn't dare to mock one of the city's finest, uh I am however a little short on coin, could you perhaps point me towards someone who could use a man of my talents?"
The guard rolled his shoulders, "Well I suppose the pathfinder guilds are always lookin' fo-"
Niko spun around and started walking into the city, "Thaaaank you" he waved over his shoulder. The guard pushed his helmet up to scratch his scalp. "I didn' even tell 'im where they are..."
