Up and coming, what's new!

Quest, Adventure Zone and Experience Overhaul

This next patch is a big one, and I'm excited to finally announce it. We really appreciate the patience of the community while we work out problems as they arise. We have had lots of incredible feedback and appreciate the dedication of our players. Hopefully this can be one of the first major steps to show real results based on player feedback.

Foreword
Part of this overhaul has required a migration of all writ-quests and their goals. What this means is all quest-items will be removed however any completed quests will still be recorded as completed.
If a player is currently in-progress of a quest they will simply need to pick it up again. Quests will no longer require items to complete them.
It is highly recommended that to test and try out the new system you do so with level 5 characters. The first foundational step in this overhaul has the highest priority of on-boarding new players and easing them into the server.
The initial quests for the Foreign Quarter is for new characters and serves as content meant to be solod. Only when a character finishes these quests will the level 5 and 6 writs become available to them.
As with all content, you are more than welcome to complete them in a group if you want -- quest objectives are updated to everyone in the party. They are simply balanced around solo play.

Adventure Zones
Adventure zones are areas that contain the entrances to dungeons, they are intended to be solo content.
When we launched it was quickly established that the adventure zones failed to meet this expectation.
During this time since launch we've had a huge issue with the only realistically available content being the dungeons themselves and requiring a group.
Because of this most new players were funneled into encounters and areas with creatures that were way above their ability to defeat.
With this update -- we have begun the groundwork for a complete overhaul of the adventure zone and quest system to better meet the goals and needs of the server.
Each adventure zone has had all of its creatures and encounters overhauled to meet the standards of solo content, allowing roaming and solo slaying if one wishes.
This patch today includes the foundation for this overhaul. The encounters in every zone, the new quest system and the complete quest chain for the Foreign Quarter Sewers meant for new characters of level 5.
Over time each of the other adventure zones will additionally have 4 or more solo quests implemented for them.

Experience
It was also quickly established at launch that the experience rates are much quicker than our goals.
Quests, kills and their rewards were originally calculated based on the amount of content available -- with the goal to add more content later.
We have quickly realized this is not ideal, so we're implementing the experience and reward rates as it is meant to be when we finish adding all of the 1-12 quests.
What this means is that for now, leveling is going to be much, much slower. As stated above we have figured out the goal of how many quests we want each zone to have.
Since this patch only includes the new quests for the Foreign Quarter - Sewers, it means that until we finish the quests for the other adventure zones it's going to feel a lot like there's not enough experience to go around.
We feel that the opposite of what happened at launch is probably better for long term server health. Having an interim period where leveling may feel too slow instead of too fast.
As the other quests get added, to meet the new rates the overall leveling speed will better match the intended goals.

Server Launch

Hello @everyone this is the most important announcement we’ve all been waiting for! We have finished our development goals for the server and are ready to launch. For real this time. The list of tasks is never ending but the list of things we need in order to go live is done! Our goal is to go live on August 1st!

As a reminder, this will include a vault wipe for a fresh start.

In the past month we have implemented a few new large features, and while we have tested them internally we would really appreciate members of the community to use the time until launch testing them out! We have added the cooking, fishing and farming professions.

Going Public with Open Beta

We are happy to announce the open beta of Golarion Chronicles! A Neverwinter Nights persistent world roleplaying server set in the Pathfinder campaign setting. This server includes a complete overhaul to the pathfinder 1st edition ruleset. This open beta is an opportunity for the community to test and provide feedback on the server. We encourage players to play however they want during the beta.

June 24th 2025 we'll be opening our server public for anyone interested in joining to test out the server.

  • Making a character to roleplay and play normally is welcome during this time.
  • Making a character to try and break and exploit every inch of the server is welcome so long as you report exploits when you find them.
  • “Test” characters can be created to skip leveling and test every ability skill and class free reign.

During the open beta DMs will be very free handed with any fix or change required to allow proper testing. Rewards, items, replacements, rebuilds and fixes will all be provided freely. This is the time to try everything, see if it breaks without worry of loss.

We plan to follow a schedule of testing phases before we can launch. Beginning with phase one levels 5-10 (and their quests and dungeons) will be available. As each phase progresses we will unlock more chunks of content and increase the level cap following the bugfixing of the previous one. The speed in which we can progress through phases of beta and into launch will be determined based on the amount of issues that are found in each phase and must be fixed.

Due to the volatile nature of “anything goes” during the open beta and the potential for bugs there will be a vault wipe when the open beta completes and the server launches. Unless explicitly specified, any roleplay that takes place during the open beta does not need to be automatically retconned. Any character wiped at the end of open beta can be immediately remade as a fresh character but is more than welcome to continue whatever IC story and relationships they gained during the testing process. The vault wipe will be meant to reset any mechanical ramifications of bugs or exploits as a consequence of the beta testing process, not a narrative reset.

Golarion Chronicles is a roleplaying server first and foremost, and while the goal of open beta is to test everything we still want to remind everyone to respect those that do roleplay and their stories. While test characters and normal characters may intermingle for testing purposes. Please refrain from using the “test” characters in a way that impacts the quality of roleplay for normal characters. Consider interactions with “test” characters to be ooc.

The most important aspect of testing in the open beta is to make it fun. For some people the most fun way to test a server is to play it legitimately as if it was fully live. For some people the most fun way to test a server is to repeatedly remake their character and try out different builds. Please respect playstyles during this time.

When the server finally launches we will revert to being a roleplay-enforced persistent world and test characters will be unable to intermingle with the normal playerbase.
